The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, Cedefop, has launched the European Vocational Teacher Survey (EVTS) – the first EU-wide study giving a voice to vocational education and training teachers across 23 Member States.
Across Europe, schools are struggling to recruit and keep VET teachers, especially in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and foreign languages – subjects vital to Europe’s digital and green future. The survey will collect insights from around 14 000 teachers to understand what drives and challenges them, from working conditions and pay to professional development and career appeal.
Results, due in 2027, will help shape policies to make teaching in VET more attractive and better supported, contributing to Europe’s Union of Skills and a stronger, more competitive economy.
